Beneath the Olive Groves

All over the world, water scarcity — or more accurately, its inequitable distribution — is a driver and multiplier of violent conflict. In Palestine, water has been weaponised like barely anywhere else.

Seeing their access to water heavily restricted, people across the West Bank struggle to sustain their livelihoods. Voices from farming cooperatives, agribusinesses, seed banks, brewers and well diggers add up to a re-examination of Palestine’s indigenous food system and reveals the human cost of water scarcity under occupation.

Chefs OF KASHMIR

In one of the most militarised places on this planet, Kashmiris increasingly struggle to feed themselves. Curfews, state-led violence, loss of agricultural land and increased dependence on food imports make it difficult for the Wazas (chefs) of Kashmir to continue their proud heritage.

Our documentary film not only shows the Wazas at work and why generational craftmanship brings them so much respect, but their remarkable resilience to keep their traditional food culture alive.
